Pavlova

magnifique
tetiba lapar plaks!

I've made this several times. Usually as a buah tangan when I visit someone. People would be intrigued by it when I tell them what it's called. "Kuih ape nih?", "Pavlova?", "Ape??". Let's not get into details lah. Need I say that it's useless to explain to them on why it has such a name because I'd usually end up with "Makan jelah", lol!

I made this for Hida's potluck raya makan-makan. Actually, Khalid had requested for this. He has never tasted meringue and I get annoyed with him when he constantly uses the word "meringue" everytime he tries to describe a certain food. Annoyed only because I know for a fact that he does not know what it is but yet he boldly uses the word on every possible opportunity *sigh*.

Owhhh, this is also hubby's fave dessert :) Don't you just love a man who loves your cooking unconditionally? ;p

Ingredients:

4 egg whites
1 cup caster sugar
1 tsp lemon juice
2 tsp cornflour
a pinch of salt

How to make:

1. In a small electric mixer bowl, beat egg whites until soft peaks form.

2. Add sugar, lemon juice, sifted cornflour and salt and beat until stiff and glossy (at least 10 minutes).

3. Cover a baking tray with baking paper.

4. Pile meringue onto paper into a large circle, leaving the centre slightly hollowed,

5. Bake in at 130C for 1 1/2 hours or until crisp on the outside.

6. Turn oven off and leave pavlova to cool in oven with door ajar.

7. Decorate with whipped cream and strawberries. I usually slice my strawberries in thin pieces and drenched them in lemon juice and add a sprinkle of caster sugar.

The verdict? Ask the people who came to Hida's raya makan-makan *evil laugh*.

Love Letters of Great Men

I bought this book last year (while pregnant) for my self. I have since read it twice. The book is a compilation of love letters from various famous or infamous men. Ranging from King Henry VIII, Napoleon Bonaparte, Ludwig van Beethoven to Benjamin Disraeli. I have to admit, half the time I don't know what the book or these great men were talking about because they used draconian language. Haha. But in essence, I seem to understand what the letters aims to achieve.

My fave love letter would be from Beethoven to his unnamed "Immortal Beloved":

You - My Life - My All - farewell
Oh, go on loving me - never doubt
the faithfullest heart
of your beloved
L
Ever thine
Ever mine
Ever ours.

The words are so majestic and deep. I feel as though I'm in love again. I mean, I've never been out of love. Maybe the correct feeling would be alive. Yes, that's it. I feel alive again. Dahla he uses the initial "L", so "Lily" of him! *gloats in a bubble*.

Sometimes I wished hubby and I would write each other love letters often. Just for the sake of memories. But I know that this is far too cheesy for us. Haha. Maybe a simple yet romantic text message would do us no harm, kan? Instead of the usual "Grak" to signify us leaving the office or "Dinner mane?" to inquire on where we should stuff ourselves that night. Haha.

Takpe, takpe. I now have a blog to write and to profess my love and feelings towards hubby :).  So people, get yourself a barf bucket on standby ;p

Neglected

Yes. This blog has been neglected *hangs head*.

During Ramadhan, I was eager to blog on almost everything imaginable. After raya, the mood kinda fades away. Maybe I had ample time during Ramadhan or maybe I just wanted to kill time so that it'll pass by quickly.

Work is like usual. Am not really busy but I do have a lot of reading to do. I come to the office at 9.30am and leave exactly at 6.00pm. Haha. I've manipulated the office hours. I know my bosses are not pleased with this. But I'm a working mum. So sue me :p

Adel was down with fever and flu a couple of weeks back. I was too. But Adel got it courtesy of MIL. I can't say I got mine from Adel because it sounds weird having being infected by a baby. I still have the flu. But Alhamdulillah, Adel is clear from that. It breaks my heart when he has all this. He's too small to comprehend the mechanism and complexity of fever and flu. He gasps when he breathe. I cried most of the times because I couldn't bear to see him suffering in such a way.  We went to the clinic twice to have him checked. Maybe I'm being extra paranoid. I do exaggerate. But I only want the best for my child and I don't want to live with "what if's". And it's always better to be safe than sorry.

Adel now has two teeth. Hehe. He's a bit slow in the "feet" department. Has not yet started crawling. But is a champion at shoving his butt up in the air. I shrieked on every butt shoving occasion. Because it's that momentous :)

"see my two teeth!"
My marriage life is less stressful. I guess it's because I don't rush on chores anymore. I mean, I don't procrastinate. I take my own sweet time in doing the chores. Sometimes I annoy myself because of this. Haha. It's so hard to even please me! But everything is well in the household. Hubby has been exceptionally understanding in everything. I love him to bits.

Another 2 months till the year ends and OMG! Another 4 months till Adel's birthday!! I have been waiting for this moment like forever!! Of course I would want to plan a fantastic and affordable birthday bash for the prince of my heart! *chuckles*. Getting impatient everyday for this party and yes, I keep changing the party's theme every minute. Even my sister is getting sick of my fickle mindedness. Haha. Hubby is very understanding only because he knows me too well :) Have googled and done research on 1st birthday parties. Too much choices, I don't know what to opt for! Haha. Sangat over!! Ah well, I'll jot down the birthday plans on this blog. That ought to serve as a reminder to update this blog religiously!!

Had makan-makan potluck with my friends last Sunday. Sasha did lamb chop, it was superb! Shuey came with her yummylicious creme caramel! Farhana brought beef queso, salsa and potato salad, sedap sungguh!! Ayu did mocktail (or what was supposed to be mocktail)! It was a mixture of mango juice and sprite! Haha. It tasted good...with ice :) Dayah came with Pizza Hut's carbonara pasta..she didn't cook anything!! But you can count on her to buy you food ;p Khalid (being a self acclaimed food manic) only brought ice!? Haha. I baked brownies, twice!!

Will be going to Hida's open house tomorrow and I will be making pavlova!! I'll update later with the recipe and how it turn out to be. I've yet to blog on my choc chip cookies I did for raya *sigh*. Dah abes dah pon, hubby makan!!

Later!

Adel's blues

Adel demam. Well, demam sikit jelah but the selsema and batuk are still worrying. Risau sebenarnye. Anak kesayangan (baru sorang je kot ;p) is not in the pink of health. Susah dia nak tido memalam because of the boogy. And when he coughs, I can hear the presence of the phlegm. I love, love, love him to bits. That's why it breaks my heart when he's in such pain because I know how uncomfortable it is. He's grumpy nowadays and I attribute that to the sickness. Alaaa..bucuk mummy..tamau grumpy lagi, boleh..mummy nak tengok Adel smile macam pic bawah ni, boleh?

Office Bag

When it comes to being disorganized and sloppy, I am hands down the sloppiest person on earth. I was quite the opposite back in uni. I guess lack of time and sleep unleashes the monster in me, lol!

As you can see, I'm pretty bored in the office right now..bored does not mean I am not busy, for I have a million and one things to do! I decided to empty my office bag and see what I have inside it.

Items:

1. Worn out card case - bought it 2 years ago. Sekarang dah koyak rabak. Such an embarrassment. Must purchase a new one.

2. Compact mirror - It's black and plain but note the Hello Kitty sticker on it, lol!

3. Klinik Idzham meds - some meds for my menstrual cramps.

4. Samsung handphone - this is my second handphone. I thought it would be practical to have a second phone albeit cheap. Just in case my iPhone goes bust (it does occasionally and weirdly enough at selected important timing!).

5. A blue Kilometrico pen - for all writing purposes.

6. Kotex - for those rainy days!

7. iPhone headphones - to help me concentrate (listening to music of course!) while working when my other colleagues could not keep their mouth shut!

8. Pink songket case - to store 3 of my thumbdrives.

9. Tiger balm - untuk pening2, loya2, demam2 :p

10. Vaseline lip balm - for me lips..mmmuuuuaaahhh!

11. Buku Tabung Haji - yang ni tatau nape..sebab terlupa nak simpan kat rumah!

12. Furla purse - I love love love my Furla purse :) I have everything imaginable in there. Including my ASB book!

13. Pink coin purse - for loose change.

14. Adel's doctors book - in case of emergency.

15. Marc Jacobs' Daisy luminous body lotion - in substitution of hand lotion. This one smells awesome and it has glitters too!

16. Strepsils - for sore throat.

17. Keys - the one with the bear is for the car and the one with the jaded Hello Kitty is for the house.

Ok, I want to tag Shuey, Sasha and Aja!
